Presidents Message
April 2005
Dennis Rood

I thought I would be representing our club at the 50 th anniversary of the PCA in Hershey the last week of June but apparently I will not. I signed onto the internet and submitted my application electronically but apparently, by the time I tried to find out next day why I had not received a response, registration was full and closed. This also happened to me when submitting my mandatory first of the year President's report with all new officers, detail information, etc. I could not submit it electronically either, could not save a copy of the form and finally printed it and after 5 days of trying Nancy got it faxed. We have fabulous cars but I believe we need help in the administrative aspects of our club.

Enough of that rant. We had a number of events in February that were well executed by those putting them on. First there was the Champs Autocross Party which was organized and executed by Director at Large, Tom Bogaard. There was a great Tech Session delivered by Eric Breidenbach at Barrier Porsche, a private Auto Collection Social put on by Roxie Wilson, with nearly 70 people in attendance, a Special Event at Redmond European on what is needed to go racing SOVREN delivered by Duncan Newell and a low key social brunch at the Red Hook Brewery. I missed everything but the social since that was my event. Going on vacation I missed some very good fun I am afraid.

Clearly we are into an early spring and running hard for the 2005 season. The weather has been great and we have a full schedule in front of us. April and most spring and summer months will have autocross, DE day, skills day, tours, and social events for our enjoyment and participation. New members day on March 20 th ,Siente de Mayo on May 7 and a few casual dinners thrown in.

I met two people this past weekend who were Porsche owners but not in the club. One was exhibiting a, one of five manufactured, beautiful black 490 HP 2004 factory supercharged 996 coupe at the Seattle Custom and Roadster show. Rene Girard has a lot of other domestic classic and collectibles but never thought about joining our club. I told him about the great people and fun events we have and I think he might join. Another couple I met at a party were Brad and Carolyn who had just purchased a new lapis blue Boxster two months ago. I also gave them a card and the same sales pitch. I told both of them about new members day and I hope they join us so they can get even more enjoyment from their cars.

I went to a meeting of the tour committee at Duane and Dawn Schindler's new home in Auburn this weekend and there are a lot of great tours coming your way for 2005, guided by Larry and Sherrel Nelson. There are so many people who put a lot of time, energy and thought into how they can share their passion for Porsches with other club members. Think about participating in some of these if you haven't in the past. Consider volunteering to help in an event to give something back.

It is amazing how, after participating in these evens for years, you look forward so much to doing it again. Come out and join us. You won't be sorry you did.

Say hello at our next event.
