Presidents Message
July 2005
Dennis Rood

May was a busy month and the spring weather we expected, for the most part, had already come in March and April. About 30 people attended the Siete DeMayo social dinner on May 7 at Azteca restaurant in Bellevue. The weather was good for that outing and everyone had a good time. One of our newest members, Liz Hatfield, daughter of Paul and Marianne Hatfield, had just purchased a Guards Red Tiptronic Boxster and this was her first PNWR event. Look for her article in this Spiel. Welcome Liz to our Porsche Club Region.

Eric had another great Tech session at Chris German Auto on the 14 th but I missed that one as I was out of town. Thanks Chris for doing this for us again.

The Yakima Valley Wine tour on May 21 & 22 saw 42 cars leave the Krispy Kreme in Issaquah led by our tour chairs, Larry and Sherrel Nelson. A few more cars caught up late and by the time we reached Hyatt Vineyards for the picnic we had nearly 70 cars, including INWR. We then broke up into smaller groups and headed out to visit other wineries and places of interest in the valley. We had to travel 75 miles further East to Kennewick and checked into the Silver Cloud Inn so that we could leave for the drive to Columbia Crest Winery by 5:30PM. The drive was great fun as usual, the dinner and social time was good and Sunday everyone either continued an extended trip or found their way back by different routes. Nancy and I had brunch with some friends in Yakima and then chose the Chinook Pass route to head home. Very scenic and beautiful in the spring. If you haven't been on this tour, try it next year.

Emmett Koontz reported:
The evening DE was held on a 75-degree day on Wednesday May 25. The weather was quite nice, the track was fine and we had 69 paid people, I believe Jana said, and then a good number of unpaid instructors. A good time was had by all. Everyone got at least 4 runs in.

Finally an autocross was held on Memorial Day weekend on the 28th.

We will let you know next month how our experience at the 50 th Anniversary of the Porsche Club Parade event was that we are attending the end of June. I am sure it will be a great time.

Hope to see you soon at an event in July.
