March was a busy month with spring events getting under way
for our club. There was a great tech session at Stereotomy in
Issaquah put on by Eric Breidenbach. A good turnout of 35-45
people.
March 26 we attended the tour led by the Schindlers, starting
at the Super Mall McDonalds, stopping for an hour at the famous
Black Diamond Bakery and ending up for lunch at the Coho Cafe
in Redmond. About 1000 calories and driving great back roads
for 125 miles. Great job, Duane and Dawn.
March 18-20 Nancy and I traveled to the Zone 6 Presidents meeting
in Portland, organized and hosted by Zone 6 Rep. Linda Bein.
We had a nice reception and dinner Friday night and spent all
day Saturday talking about National changes, new rules, insurance
and risk, other club events, challenges and calendars.
John Draneas from the Oregon Region Parade 2006 committee came
and led a 2-hour discussion on what is happening at Parade in
Portland next year. The dates for 2006 Parade are August 6th
through the 11th. Put it on your calendar and let's show up in
force.
One of the things we can do as a club to volunteer is to staff
the hospitality suite for one day. Probably 3-4 people per shift,
4-hour shifts. Let me know if you are willing to do this. That
would fulfill your worker requirement to attend the workers'
party gratis the last day of Parade.
There are 15 regions in our Zone ranging all the way from 40
members where the newsletter is sent via email, to regions that
are so spread apart that they have broken into two chapters and
have many separate chapter events, to Oregon Region with 800
members and PNWR with 1,500 members. It was good to hear what
other regions are doing and share ideas for other activities.
If you are traveling to a part of Zone 6 or other Zones in the
US, it is a good thing to look on the web site for that Zone
and city club and get their list of activities and see if you
would like to join in.
We finished with dinner together again on Saturday night and
hit the hay early.
We jumped out of ben at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning and were back
in Kirkland by 10:30 a.m., as we were in charge of the new members
day event at Cafe Veloce in Kirkland.
April brings our first track day of the season with newly trained
instructors, a tour, an autocross and a social dinner honoring
our past presidents. Come out and have some fun and try one or
two of these events.
