March 2007
Hello Everybody,
Even though we had a couple of weeks of really nasty weather (windstorm, snow and ice), we got off pretty easy compared to the rest of the country. The mid-west and east coast really got hit hard late this winter. They had major sub-zero temperatures and blizzard conditions.
It was -32 degrees Fahrenheit in Minnesota with the wind chill in February! I think we need to feel grateful. As they are thawing out, we are just getting ready to crank up our driving season. Spring should be here quickly and hopefully we’ll get some nice days this month.
March has the year’s first events for concours, competitive autocross, and touring. I always enjoy this time of year as I start seeing many more Porsches on the road each day. Make sure to wave!
On the 3rd we start off with Paul Risinger’s fabled concours clinic. This has become a heavily attended annual event. Come on out and learn how to keep your Porsche in eye catching form. Paul will relate pearls of wisdom on what products to use (more importantly what NOT to use) and how to use them. A question and answer session usually closes the event. Bring a pad of paper to take notes.
Then on the 17th we have the start of the autocross competitive series. Come on out and get the blood pumping and the heart rate up. Squealing tires and the smell of rubber always seems to have a happy effect on the Porsche fan’s psyche.
Our touring season starts this month too. On the 24th, our “Kick-off Tour” will be running from Auburn to Redmond. Everyone will meet at 9:30AM at the Super Mall McDonald’s and end at the Coho Café at approximately 12:30PM for lunch. If you enjoy back road curves and getting out of the city, make plans to participate.
Remember that Parade San Diego registration starts on March 6th at 5:00AM. If you are interested in attending, make sure you register early. Space is limited.
Let’s get out and get driving!
