Update: New Helmet Minimum Standards go into Effect on June 1, 2006
With the release and distribution of the new 2005 Snell rated helmets, PNWR, along with PCA, is now moving to a new minimum helmet requirement beginning with 2006. The new minimum of Snell Memorial Foundation 2000 or later is required; M or SA rating is acceptable. SA is recommended for increased fire protection. There has been fewer than expected helmets distributed to local retailers. Until further notice, the 1995 & 2000 helments will be accepted at all events. Champ Cars coming back to PIR
The Champ Car World Series will return next year. The announcement was made Friday by Portland Parks Commissioner Jim Francesconi and Champ Car President Dick Eidswick. The race will run in the traditional late June window, and will be part of the Champ Car schedule to be released in November. Watch for PNWR special event information around this event.
Last DE Day this year - Oct. 24
Registration is now open for our last Driver Education event for the 2004 season. If you've not been to the track yet this year, now's your chance. We have a very exciting program with highly skilled instructors to help beginners and intermediate track drivers improve their skills. Registration opens to non-PCA members on Oct. 3 - so reserve your spot now. First time drivers will attend a Ground School on Oct. 21. For additional

solicit candidates for the November election of the 2005 Board of Directors.
As usual, candidates are sought for President, Vice President, Secretary,

PNWR.org Earns National Trophy
For the second year in a row, the Pacific NorthWest Region's website has placed in the
PCA national website contest. The site won 4th place this year after placing 2nd overall in 2003. Very
few changes were made to the site over that past year, but plans are underway for more interactive
features in the near future. Look for Pacific NW Region forums as well as a new members-only area with
profiles and expanded event registration.
