Scenic Drives

Issaquah to Ellensburg and on to Salmon La Sac

1. From Burger King in Issaquah, turn left at the light, go one block.
2. Turn right and enter I-90 East.
3. At I-90 Exit 20 (Highpoint), exit the highway.
4. Turn left at the stop sign and go under the highway.
5. Stay on the main road. This will follow I-90 and go through Preston.
6. At Fall City, go right at the stop sign so you are on the bridge over the Snoqualmie River.
7. Stay on this road; follow signs for Highway 202 East.
8. You'll pass by Snoqualmie Falls, and go through the town of Snoqualmie.
9. Keep on the main road into North Bend.
10. At the stop light, turn left onto North Bend Way, going through downtown North Bend.
11. Follow this main road, going staight where one lane veers right.
12. This road again follows I-90, going past the Mt Si Tavern.
     
13. Gathering Point: regroup at Ken's Truck Town.
     
14. Turn right on 468th, under I-90.
15. Turn left onto the entrance ramp for I-90 East.
16. Exit I-90 at Exit 47, Denny Creek.
17. Left at the stop sign, right at the 'T'.
18. Turn left onto Denny Creek Road (signs for Denny Creek Campground).
19. Follow this road to Snoqualmie Pass. The Denny Creek road ends up on the Apental access road.
20. Turn right on the access road and go under I-90.
     
21. Break: The Traveler's Rest stop near the Chevron gas station at Snoqualmie Summit.
     
22. Follow the pass road to Hyak, take a left and a quick right to the entrance ramp to I-90 East.
23. Exit I-90 at Exit 74, Nelson Siding Road.
24. Right at the stop sign.
25. Follow the Nelson Siding Road to a 'Y', and take a right onto Westside Road.
26. Follow Westside road into South Cle Elum.
27. Once past the Iron Horse B&B (3 cabooses in yard) and the Iron Horse Trail (ex-railroad right of way), take a right on Madison St.
28. Go about 2 block.
29. Turn right onto 4th St., which then leads into Lower Peoh Point Road.
30. Go up the hill; turn right onto Upper Peoh Point Road.
31. Follow Upper Peoh Point Road.
32. This eventually turns into Thorp Prairie Road and follows I-90.
33. This eventually turns into Taneum Road.
34. At the 'T' with Thorp Highway, turn right toward the town of Thorp.
35. Through Thorp, follow the Thorp Highway, past the Fruit and Vegetable stand, over I-90.
36. At the next 'T', turn right.
37. Back over I-90 to a 4-way intersection.
38. Follow this road (Business I-90) to Main Street in Ellensburg.
39. Turn right onto Main Street, go past the County Building.
40. Turn left at the sign for Parking for Historic Ellensburg. Park in the lot that is 2 blocks off Main Street.
     
41. LUNCH BREAK
     
42. Going back, turn right on Main Street back the way you came. Follow Business I-90 to just before the train overpass.
43. Look for a sign for Reecer Creek Road, (yellow & kinda small)
44. Turn right on Reecer Creek Road.
45. Take the first left, follow signs for Highway 10.
46. Follow this road, straight at the one stop sign.
47. Follow Highway 10 through the Upper Yakima Canyon towards Cle Elum.
48. At the 'T', turn left towards Cle Elum.
49. Turn right at sign for Price Chopper.
     
50. Gathering Point: the parking lot of Price Chopper.
     
51. To head back to Seattle: get back on the main road through town to I-90 Westbound entrance ramp on west side of Cle Elum.
     
52. To continue on to Salmon La Sac: follow 2nd Street to stop light.
53. Go straight, follow Hiway 903 to Salmon La Sac.
54. To return, follow Hiway 903 back through Roslyn and follow signs to west I-90.
