March 2006
Hello Everybody,
Winter is finally subsiding! The glaciers
are withdrawing and everyone is wringing out their socks. Bring on
the warmer temperatures, more sun, and more Porsche events! A new
season is starting in full swing this month. There is something for
everyone.
To start the month off, Paul Risinger will be
holding a Concours Preparation lecture. Make sure to come out and
learn from one of the best in the sport. He’ll tell us what to do,
how to do it, and even more important – what NOT to do. He has more
experience with car care goodies than most anyone and can relate
horror stories that will make you cringe. Paul has held these
sessions in the past and his information has helped me in several
concours events.
Our first Technical Education session of the
year is this month on March 11th. I’m sure Mark Issacs
will have a great year leading these sessions. So if you’re not
careful, you might learn something before he’s done.
We will be welcoming new members at “New
Members Day” on March 12th. If you are new to the club,
or just starting to get involved, please attend. Lots of
information will be shared along with good food and stories.
In terms of driving events, the 2006 Autocross
Series starts on Saturday the 18th. The Autocross crew
will again be delivering a great experience for all competitors.
Fun and squealing tires? Definitely a great way to get the juices
flowing!
Near the end of the month our tour season
starts as well. For those of you whose cars have been tucked in all
winter, it is time to wake them up. I’m sure they are just yearning
to be driven. This tour is on the morning of the 25th and
will be followed by a Mardi Gras party at I-5 Motors in Fife. Alex
Spearman and his crew have arranged for New Orleans music, dancing,
and a buffet style dinner. Make sure to RSVP so they can calculate
the amount of food they will need. Wear your festive attire and
bring your beads.
We are now actively searching for a new editor
for the Spiel. If anyone has desktop publishing skills and would
like to contribute to the club in a very special way, please let
anyone on the board know you are interested.
Portland Parade registration starts on the 10th
of this month, so get yours prepared.
Hope to see everyone on the road this month.
Let the fun begin and the good times roll!
