May 2006
Hi Everybody,
I love this time of year! The days get longer and you get to play musical chairs with the weather. Welcome to spring in the Northwest. Every afternoon I come home from work hoping the sun will be out and that I can put that household chore on hold just long enough for a quick jaunt in the Porsche.
As of May 1st we will be moving our monthly board meetings’ and ground schools’ location. Since 2003 we have been meeting at Barrier Porsche and felt it was time to shake things up. We wanted to give the Barrier crew a break from having to stay late and lock up after us. I want to thank them for their years of support and want them to know how much we appreciate all they do for us.
Our new location is Park Place Motors (13710 Northup Way, Bellevue). They have generously offered to host our meeting free of charge and supply us with tables and chairs. Dates and times of all meetings will remain the same.
May has several activities planned and there should be something for almost everyone’s taste. We start out with two events on May 6th. On Saturday morning we have a great Technical Education event set up over at Speedware Motorsports in Redmond and at 6pm we will be celebrating Seis de Mayo at Azteca in Bellevue. Please RSVP for these events so that the organizers can plan for capacity. It’s really hard to plan space for the forty who show up, when only twenty people said they were coming. Help everyone out and let them know you are planning to attend. Thanks!
On the 20th we will have our first overnight tour of the season. We will join up with the Inland Northwest Region for the 20th annual Wine Country Tour. You will get to drive some amazing roads, eat great food, and meet a lot of fun people. Dinner is held at the Columbia Crest Winery in Paterson on Saturday night. Most people stay over at the Marriott Courtyard in Richland and come back on Sunday. For registration details check the ad in this Spiel or look up the event on the website calendar. Dinner space at the winery is limited, so make sure to sign up early.
The last Saturday of the month is set aside for Autocross #3 and our first “prime time” Drivers’ Skills Day of the season. The Autocross season is in full swing and the Skills Day instructors are gnawing at the bit to get started. Autocross is open to all members so come on out and squeal some tires. You’ll need to check space availability for Skills Day, as our program is very popular with the membership. But believe me, even if you can’t make this one, it is definitely worth the wait.
I hope everyone can get home early a couple of nice weekdays this month and get out driving. If I see you, I’ll make sure to wave!
