Presidents Message
June 2006

Hello Everyone,

Can you believe the year is already half over? Luckily, the driving season isn’t. We still have many months of activities on the calendar and I’ve put in a reservation with Mother Nature for some really nice driving days.

In May, the board moved forward on several items I’d like to share with you. First, I’m happy to announce that PNWR will be a main sponsor at the Kirkland Concours D’Elegance on September 9th. Eric Breidenbach did research on this and proposed that with Porsche being the featured marque, that the club takes this one time opportunity to promote Porsches, itself, and raise some money for the Concours’ charity.

Second, PNWR will be one of the charter sponsors for the LeMay museum. By doing so, the club will be able to tour the facility and hold events there. This amazing collection of automobiles will be moving to a new facility now being planned in Tacoma.

Last and by no means least, the board decided to continue to support “Anna’s Ride Home” as our annual PNWR charity for 2006. The Anna Armstrong White Foundation is doing a wonderful job of helping keep intoxicated bar patrons off our roads.

We have a lot of events occurring during June as well. It’s an activity packed month with something for everyone. Starting on June 10th we have our fourth Autocross and our second Driver’s Skills events at Bremerton Motorsports Park.

On morning of the 17th there is a true adventure planned. Nancy LeMay has graciously permitted us to tour her private collection of automobiles. This is the world’s largest private collection of vintage automobiles, motorcycles and trucks. If you didn’t pre-register, I’m sorry you will have to wait until next time.

On the evening of the 17th, we will be holding our annual Wine Tasting party.Reservations are required and are due to Diane Koontz by June 10th. This year Duane and Lori Castles are our hosts and John Thomas will be bringing the featured wines. If you have a special wine you would like to share, please bring it.

Friday (yes, Friday), June 23rd the club will be holding our second Driver’s Education event at Pacific Raceways. These events are always popular so, lease contact Jana Swan (DriverEd_Reg@pnwr.org) to see if there is still room. Registration officially closes on June 12th.

Saturday, June 24th is a Technical Education session up north in Bellingham. Roger Jobs Porsche will be opening up their service area and parts department for an inside tour of their operation. As our only northern Porsche dealer, this is a great opportunity to see what they have to offer.

Then, on the last weekend of June, the SOVREN Historics will be racing at Pacific Raceways. This has become a premier annual event for our area and you’ll have the chance to see some rare vintage race cars in their natural habitat.

The vastness of events that this club is able to participate in always astounds me. It takes a great number of very dedicated people to make them all work. When you see event organizers, please thank them. They are all volunteers and they work so hard for the love of Porsches and the benefit of our members.
