October 2006
Good Eeeevening,
It's the beginning of the holiday season, how's that for scary? At the end of this month is one of my favorite holidays.
I always get to watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas", "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", and "Young Frankenstein".
You've got to watch these at least once a year. Plus, I get to eat all the leftover Halloween candy and get a sugar rush.
This month we see some dark and mysterious changes occurring. We have a new Spiel Editor. Barb Coplen has decided not to
run for club Secretary next year and take on the daunting task of getting the newsletter out instead. She agreed to take
over from Denise before the Spiel made a zombie out of her. This is a big, monstrous job, and Barb has stepped up to take
it on.
Also this month, we have a new Advertising Manager, Emmett Koontz. Emmett is taking over for Alistair. Alistair is heading
home to England to pursue business opportunities and Emmett has agreed to step in and help...at least in the short term.
Though we may be getting toward the end of the driving season, there are still many activities this month. So don't put
away your Porsche gear for your bed sheet ghost costume quite yet. The weekend of October 7th is the traditional run to the beach.
The Cannon Beach tour weekend is always fun. Sometimes we get great weather, sometimes not, but we always have a good time.
This year the event will again be held at the beautiful Tolovana Inn. Great views of Haystack Rock are sure to calm and relax.
On the 14th, we have our next to last Autocross in Bremerton. As of September several of the classes were still up for grabs.
Get out there and make the winners pry it out of your cold, clammy hands.
Mark has a Technical Education event scheduled for the 21st. He is still peering into his crystal ball and working out
the details as I write this letter, so stay tuned. Check the website's calendar (www.pnwr.org) for the grim-grinning
details as we approach this date.
Then we're back out driving again on the 22nd. Driver's Education at Pacific Raceways will no doubt be a scream. The
track folk will be out to help all those novices chase their demons away and become great drivers.
During mid-week we have our Casual Dinner at the Bellevue Azteca. These are great events to just socialize and eat some
good food. Come and share your spooky Halloween stories of the past and get some new ones.
So as October begins, start thinking about what treats you will give the neighborhood ghoulies on the 31st. Remember,
if you have any candy leftovers you can always send them my way.
