President's Message
November 2006

Happy November Everyone,

As I write this month's column, Barb is busy putting the November Spiel together and is still standardizing the software template. She's still working to streamline the process so she can deal more with content than the mechanics of the publication.

It's getting colder and wetter. The days are growing darker earlier. We recede into the warmth of our houses rather than the lawn chairs. Gone are the days of getting home from work and going for a nice sunset drive in seventy degree weather. Gone...but not forgotten. I'm sure there will be a couple of lucky weather breaks coming this winter, but they may be few and far between.

I know those driving days will return next year, but how does one get their driving fix during the winter in the Northwest? Well there are lots of ways. Here are just a few I use to get through the winter:

  • Indoor Karting
  • Driving video games (Xbox or PlayStation)
  • DVDs such as LeMans, GrandPrix, or any of the Victory by Design series
  • Reading material such as Vic Elford's new book
  • Hanging out at the local car shops discussing car improvements
  • Organizing the garage (okay...this one usually never gets done)

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. We still have a driving event early this month. On November 4th we have the last Autocross event of the year out at Bremerton Motorsports Park. It is a last chance to get out there and push it in 2006.

On the 18th we have tentative Technical Education event scheduled in the morning and then at lunchtime the club will be holding its annual Worker's Party at Café Veloce in Kirkland. If you have helped out the club this year by volunteering or working, come out for lunch. It is one of the club's ways of saying "Thank you".

November is also the club's election month. So make sure you get your ballots filled out and sent back by the 22nd.

Then you can lean back, loosen your belt, watch football and experience a tryptophan coma on the 23rd. Turkey Day is here! Yum!
