Ballots will be mailed to all eligible Pacific NW Region members on November 1, 2006. Please mark and return these ballots before the November 22nd deadline.

Don't forget to include your membership number on your ballot; it is required for your vote to count.

Thank you,
The Nominating Committee

Candidate for President

DENNIS COPLEN

I have been a member of PNWR for six years. For the past two years I have served on the PNWR board. Two years ago I was Vice-President and last year your club President. I would be proud to serve another term as your Region President. If elected again, I will continue working in the best interests of the club to the best of my abilities. As President, I will continue to be committed to addressing the needs and requests of our membership.

In 2007, the club will need to address maintenance of equipment, the efficiency of programs, and the replacement of several committee heads. There is a lot of work heading our way. I would feel privileged to help lead this next year’s executive board in creatively solving these issues. While in college at the University of Washington, I held officer positions in the largest club sport organization on campus. Professionally, I am a Web Systems and Database Administrator for Vulcan, Inc.

Candidate for Vice President

CARL SWAN

As PNWR’s Vice President for 2006, I had a rather steep learning curve. Things are often not as easy as they look, and helping the club function is one of them. I think that continuing in this capacity will help smooth things and lend continuity to the club while some of the committee chairs are taken over by new people. I know our membership has an incredible talent base and seeing new people step up is one of the things that I feel is important in the evolution of the club. I hope my continuing contribution to the club’s many functions will help all of you enjoy your cars, and the club, even more in the coming year. I look forward to working with you in making each event better.

Candidate for Secretary

ROBERT DURFF

I was diagnosed with Porscheholism shortly after birth. My sister and I grew up riding in the back seat of my dad’s ‘75 911S, the car I later learned to drive stick on and eventually brought to Seattle. I now own nothing but Porsches, having finally replaced my “practical” vehicle with a ’96 Carrera earlier this year. I do as much of my own servicing as I can – little gives me greater satisfaction than getting it right, and few learning experiences are more valuable than those times when I get it wrong. I attend weekly services at the Church of the Holy Car Wash, and I lose sleep wondering whether hydraulic lifters prefer 0w-40 over 15w-50.

Since joining PNWR I’ve enjoyed participating in many events, from tech sessions and shows to volunteering at driver skills days. I’ve become a better driver, met great people, and had lots of fun. Since 2002 I’ve also been involved with another local club, the BentCarGuys. I served two terms as club secretary and led the group in becoming a 501C7 non-profit.

In running for secretary, I hope to become more involved with PNWR leadership and to give time and energy back to the club.

Candidate for Treasurer

ERIC BREIDENBACH

I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve again as Treasurer for our region. I have enjoyed my role as Treasurer and as a Board member. My strong background, both in education and experience, makes me well qualified for the Treasurer position. I have twenty four years of finance and accounting experience, including accounting, tax, audit, financial planning and treasury functions. I have held numerous senior financial positions in different business units including Chief Financial Officer, and Secretary-Treasurer for two large holding companies. Beyond this I have been General Manager for two business units and now have my own company with a business partner. My undergraduate degree is in accounting from UW and I earned an executive MBA from Southern Methodist University. Underlying all this is a strong set of professional ethics.

If elected, I will continue to faithfully carry out my duties and be an effective team member and officer. My predecessors have done solid work and I will maintain the high standards they have set and will seek to make further improvements.

Our region puts together a great mix of activities which my family and I have enjoyed. I expect to continue as an active club member in a wide range of activities including tours and charities.

Candidates for Board Member at Large (1 position)

MIKE PICCOLO

I have been a member of PNWR since 1989 and have been associated with the Porsche marque since 1967, when I purchased my first Porsche. My main interests were centered around concours until 1997 when I purchased a new Boxster. Since that time I have broadened my activities to include touring, skills days and Driver’s Ed. I have served PNWR as Safety and Tech Chair for one year and continue to volunteer for Tech at all the DE Days I attend. I received the David C. Fry Memorial Trophy (for Concours) in 2003. Our family has hosted one of the concours for three of the past four years. The Piccolo family also received the PNWR Family of the Year award in 2005. As I grow closer to retirement I would like to devote more of my time to the Region and regard the Board Member at Large as a stepping stone to growing with the Board and increasing my contributions to PNWR and PCA and giving something back to the Club.

I look forward to working for you and helping the club grow in the coming year and ask for your support.

BILL ROGERS

Hi my name is Bill Rogers and I would like to be your Director-at-Large for the next term. I have been a member of PCA since August 1969 after purchasing our first Porsche, a 1969 911E . We moved to Seattle in 1983 and transferred to PNWR at that time attending many Whistler Weekends and social events from 1983 thru 1991. After retiring in 2001 I became active in the club helping in concours and ALMS events as well as arranging the LeMay tour this year.

In March 2005, after 29 years with the 74 Carrera, we moved into the 21st Century with a 2005 Boxster S.

In the past we have attended seven Parades as well as the PCA Treffen to Stuttgart in 1977, the French Porsche Club 25th anniversary gathering in 1981 in Dijon France and the first Porsche Parade Deutschland in Stuttgart in 1982.

I currently volunteer at the LeMay Museum as a docent and help assess cars as they are turned over to the museum by the LeMay family.

I welcome the opportunity to serve as your Director-at-Large over the next two years as the club moves into the future.
