Tour Etiquette
by 2006 Tour Committee
print version

One of the most enjoyable aspects of our club is the Tour Season. The following are simple rules to ensure a fun and safe event.

DRIVERS' MEETING
Plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to be briefed on the days’ route and sign the insurance waiver. Both the driver and any/all passengers in the vehicle must sign the waiver.
REST STOPS
Rest stops will be taken every hour to hour and a half. Please pull ahead slowly to the farthest parking space to allow all Porsches to get parked, and depart in an orderly and efficient manner.
LARGE GROUPS
If over 25 – 30 cars, we will break into two or more groups, with a ‘group leader’ and ‘sweeper’ in each group.
CAR TROUBLE
If you have car trouble, pull off to the side of the road, turn on flashers and notify the tour/group leader of your situation. Sweepers should stop and provide assistance.
CONGESTED AREAS
Be cautious traveling through congested area, and obey all traffic signals. If you get separated from your group, follow your route directions, and call your tour/group leader on your radio or cell phone. Leaders will pull over on a wide shoulder or other safe area to regroup if cars get separated.
SPEEDS and PASSING
Spirited driving does not need to include excessive speeds or passing using poor judgment. Observe speed limits and traffic laws. Do not pass on solid yellow lines in your lane, double yellow lines, on blind curves, in school zones, in congested areas, or other unsafe areas. Don’t weave in and out of traffic to catch-up to your group. Occasionally other cars will get mixed in with our group. If you need to pass other drivers, be courteous, and remember that we are representatives of the Porsche clubs and all of its members.
PASSING THE TOUR LEADER
Passing the tour leader or conducting side tours without approval of the tour leader is unacceptable. The tour leaders have traveled the route numerous times in preparation for this day, know when to use caution and will dictate the speed at which the tour progresses. If a tour member should pass the tour leader and go on ahead of the group, that member will be considered as having left the tour and not be allowed to rejoin. If you need to leave the tour early, please notify the tour leader and leave at a rest stop or regrouping point so that other cars behind you do not mistake you as still being on the tour and follow you mistakeningly.

FINALLY
Not observing the Pacific NW Region's Tour Etiquette may result in being banned from participating in further tours.

Just remember that we are all out there to have fun, this is not an Autocross event or track day. Our goal is to discover the back roads of the Pacific Northwest. A lot of the time we will be driving thru someone’s neighborhood, SO BE SAFE and HAVE FUN!!

Thank you for your cooperation.
