Driver Skills FAQ

Q. - Who can participate in PNWR Driver Skills events?
A.

These events are open to all club members, spouses, and family members with an unrestricted drivers license. One guest entrant is allowed per member. Space is limited; however a waiting list is taken to allow for last minute no-shows or cancellations.

Q. - Where are Driver Skills events held?
A.

Events are held at Bremerton Raceway. Driving directions and facility information are on the track info page. Park by the bleachers across from the event building.

Q. - When do the events start?
A.

See the event calendar for dates and details. Sign up early as this popular program fills very quickly and space is limited.

Q. - What are the requirements for participants?
A.

An unrestricted driver's license and a Snell 2000 or later helmet are required.
Porsches are, of course preferred, but any safe vehicle is accepted.

Advance registration is required. Refunds, minus $5 fee, are available up until one full week prior to the event, or a full credit may be given to another Skills Day event within 12 months. If within 12 months the credit is not used, the fee will be forfeited.

Q. - What else should I bring?
A.

Bring a tarp! You'll need to empty your car before driving it (required by the tech inspection) so that nothing loose can roll around and get to your brake pedal before you do. The "pit" is a grassy area, so most drivers spread out a tarp to put their stuff on, then fold it over the top if it starts to rain. Driver Skills typically takes place rain or shine.

Bring some cash. The food at the track is cash-only for non-entrants who wish to purchase lunch.

Q. - What should I wear?
A.

The weather at Bremerton can change quickly pretty much any time of year, so come prepared for sun (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), rain, or windy conditions.

Q. - What does it cost to participate in Driver Skills?
A.

There is a $55 fee for each participant, however this also includes a trackside gourmet lunch.

Q. - Who do I contact if I have questions?
A.

For questions regarding committee, volunteering, rules, facilities, etc., contact Bill Bauer at DriverSkills@pnwr.org.
For questions regarding registration, contact Robert Durff at DriverSkills_Reg@pnwr.org or 253-335-8230.
